"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

Women, Information and Advocacy

Having survived Domestic Abuse in all its forms we believe that Domestic Abuse Must Stop. We are a non-profit, non-funded association of women committed to that end.

Domestic Abuse is not a "private matter" or a "family matter" rather a societal matter and problem. Women who experience abuse suffer from a multitude of problems that affect not only themselves but also their ability to work and contribute to society. The impact of abuse can cause serious health problems that all society must pay for - the annual Health cost alone in Canada is 1.6 billion.

Children who witness family violence display a variety of behaviours including aggression and internalization of problems with negative effects on social and academic development. They may learn that abuse is a normal part of relationships, that it is okay to use violence and that violence is a way to get what you want and to solve problems.

We Are Going To End This Travesty By:

1. Helping women who are in or have just left an abusive relationship

2. Making Domestic Abuse an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Educating and informing the General Public that abuse is not acceptable and should no longer be tolerated.

We Will:

  • Develop tools and offer workshops informing women of their rights
  • Lobby governments both locally, provincially and federally
  • Stage Public events to increase awareness
  • Provide the media, business and schools with information
  • Provide women with a vehicle to lobby for change.

Our Voices Will Be Heard
